Launched in 2002, Areyvut infuses the lives of Jewish youth with the core Jewish values of chesed (kindness), tzedakah (charity) and tikkun olam (social action). Areyvut offers a variety of opportunities to empower and enrich youth and make these core Jewish values meaningful to them.

Based on our recent success and to accommodate and maximize participation and simultaneously meet the needs and reality of today’s students and applicants, we are offering incredible flexibility. Interns will have the ability to intern and/or volunteer based on their schedule and can choose in person at our office in Bergenfield, NJ, virtual or hybrid. Those that are accepted that complete a minimum of 15 hours will receive a stipend and those that complete fewer than 15 hours will be considered volunteers. Stipends will begin at $180 and go as high as $1,800 depending on the number of completed hours. For those completely remote we anticipate offering a maximum $500 stipend.

Areyvut seeks Interns – virtual, in person and hybrid- who are eager to actively use their passion, skills and talents to make a meaningful contribution, learn about the non-profit world and challenge themselves. This position is ideal for those interested in pursuing a career in education, Jewish education, non-profit, development, event planning, entrepreneurship and/or publishing. Summer Interns will work under the supervision of Daniel Rothner, Areyvut Founder & Director.

Sample Projects Include:

Categorize content for potential book project(s).
Compile a High Holiday Reader that includes short vignettes, excerpts and ideas to help readers reflect and renew during the High Holidays.
Develop elective curriculum addressing contemporary issues including but not limited to alcohol, anxiety, bullying, depression, drugs and peer pressure.
Edit and supplement Parsha Content for Youth Directors.
Finalize the 2023 A Kindness a Day Calendar content before it is submitted to Hebcal, formatted for daily e-mails and automated posting to Twitter.
Overseeing active and creative distribution of our You Matter cards.
Prepare a new resource on Best Practices of Chesed, Tzedakah and Tikkun Olam that highlights already existing successful programs that can be replicated.
Research ways that we can monetize our educational content including selling educational curricula.
The above are merely sample projects to provide a sense of the scope, import, reach and impact of these projects and the Areyvut Summer Interns efforts.

Key Competencies and Qualifications:

Relevant experience developing, facilitating and/or implementing creative Jewish and/or educational programming (experiential education STRONGLY preferred)
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including strong writing and editing skills
Solid organizational skills and excellent attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritize and meet deadlines
Creativity and flexibility
